Seventy-five years ago, on 22 September 1946, the first matchday in the history of the Quiniela was held, and it was almost an instant success. Those first tickets consisted of seven games and were priced at two pesetas. Of all the money that was accumulated, subtracting the 10 percent that went to management and operating costs, 45 percent went to prizes and the other 45 percent to charity. The system was more complex than it is today, as it was not limited to predicting the prediction of a match but rather the number of goals scored by each team, very similar to today"s Quinigol.
Only two years after its creation, the well-known 1X2 system appeared and the number of matches included was increased to 14, including both the First and Second Divisions.

In 1988 the famous full 15 was established, that is to say, to win the prize in addition to the predictions of the 14 matches you had to correctly guess the number 15.

On 9 March 1952, a butcher from Santander, Saturnino García Pereda, became the first Quiniela millionaire. He was the only winner of all the games and won more than one million pesetas, a veritable fortune for the time.
In May 1967 Francisco Franco obtained 12 correct numbers in the Quiniela and won a prize of 900,333 pesetas, which he apparently gave as a gift to one of his assistants. The ticket is still preserved today and is part of the National Heritage.
In 1968 a farmer from Valladolid won one of the biggest Quiniela prizes. He matched all 14 games and won 30 million pesetas. The lucky man admitted that he had filled in the ticket randomly using a die.
On the 28th matchday of the 1995-1996 season, the Quiniela reached its highest ever winnings, more than 22 million euros today. This figure has never been exceeded.
On 2 October 2005, a resident of Tarragona won the biggest prize in the 75 years of the Quiniela. In total, 9,089,888 euros.
In 2014 the famous full 15 was modified. It went from being 1X2 to introducing the system of guessing the number of goals that each team will score with the options 0, 1, 2 or M (three or more goals).
On 13 October 2019, a game associated with the Quiniela was included: choose 8. The user can select 8 matches (it costs 0.50 euros) and if he/she guesses all the results, he/she wins a prize.
