Remember to collect your Christmas Lottery prizes
22 March 2025 at 20.00 hours is the deadline for claiming the money from the tickets that have been awarded in this year's Christmas Lottery. Check that you don't have any at home, otherwise, from that date onwards, the Treasury will automatically pocket them.
The 2022 Christmas Lottery draw has already been lucky and three months after it was held, except for those lucky enough to win the jackpot, the rest of the lottery winners will not even remember the winning number. The fact is that in addition to the first prize, there are a lot of tickets awarded with pedreas or reintegros and the deadline to collect them, regardless of the amount, ends on 22 March 2025 at 20.00 hours, according to the rules of the draw of the Sociedad Estatal de Loterías y Apuestas del Estado (State Lottery and Gambling Company). After that date, all uncollected money will be automatically returned to the Treasury. It is estimated that every year an average of 50 million euros in prizes from all the draws organised by Loterías y Apuestas del Estado go unclaimed or uncollected.

Those of you who have purchased paper tickets for the 2024 Christmas Lottery Special Draw and still have them at home, check them well and don't forget to go to any lottery administration or receiving office to claim the prize. However, you should also remember that this is only possible if the prizes are less than or equal to 2,000 euros per tenth. If this amount is not exceeded, they can also be collected through Bizum by generating a QR code, although you must also go to a lottery administration and the advantage is that the money is paid directly into the beneficiary's bank account.
The prizes that exceed the limit of 2,000 euros must be paid into one of the banks associated with Loterías y Apuestas, i.e.: Abanca Corporación Bancaria, Banco Sabadell, Bankia, BBVA, Caixa Bank, Cajamar, Caja Sur BBK, Ibercaja Banco, Kutxabank and Unicaja Banco. In this case, you have to go to the branch with the winning ticket and your ID card and you can choose between receiving the prize by cheque or requesting a transfer (in no case will they charge a commission or impose any kind of contract when handing over the money).
The case of lottery participations is different. In this case, the money must be requested from the issuer.
