Vocabulary of the Extraordinary Christmas Lottery Draw
Every year in the broadcast of the Christmas Draw we hear some terms of which we do not know very well what they refer to, then we are going to tell you what those words mean.
TICKET: The ticket is a complete page of tenths, in the Christmas Draw 2024 for each number 185 tickets are issued.
TENTH: The tenth is the tenth part of a ticket, that is, each number that participates in the Christmas Draw consists of 185 tickets, therefore, 1,850 “shares” of each number are put up for sale
BALLS: There are two kinds of balls, those that have the 100,000 numbers that participate in the draw engraved and another 1,807 that would correspond to the prizes. All the balls weigh and measure exactly the same, 3 grams and 18.8 millimeters in diameter, they are perforated in their diameter to place them in their support and the engraving is done with laser so as not to modify their weight and size.
BASS DRUMS: The Christmas Draw continues to maintain the tradition, and that is why the two drums are still used. In the largest one would introduce the 100,000 balls with the engraved numbers, in the smallest the 1,807 balls with the important prizes and the stones that would be distributed by the famous millll eeeuros would be introduced
CUP: When the children of San Ildefonso take the ball to sing the number and the prize, they collect it from a glass container, that container is called "Cup". LIRAS: Before the draw there is a period to verify that the number in which you deposit your dreams is in the drum, and to facilitate this work the balls are arranged in some displays that are known as "Liras" each lira has 500 balls and in total there are 200 lire.
UMBRELLA: Once the verification period has elapsed, the balls must be inserted into the drum, to facilitate this action, the lyres are hung from an "UMBRELLA", this tool is used to bring the balls to the hopper.
HOPPER: When all the balls are hanging from the umbrella, this is taken to the "HOPPER" where they are introduced, the hopper facilitates the introduction of the balls into the drum thanks to its final shape in the form of a funnel.
TRUMPET: The moment the children activate the mechanism so that the ball comes out, it moves through a wire cone that joins the bass drum with the cup, this conduit is called "TRUMPET"
TABLE: As the numbers and prizes come out, they are placed on some wires, in each one 20 balls are placed with prizes and another 20 with the winning numbers. These wires are held in a "TABLE" and each one consists of 10 wires. These tables are valid for future checks, since the balls are ordered.
